What would be a better way to deliver this peaceful relaxing atmosphere than to take it underground. So, when the hotel discovered a disused underground car park in London’s West End, they couldn’t resist this opportunity. However, there was the small issue of drainage. The hotel had planned to build 207 bedrooms all located below the sewer. This is where the Evac solution was able to assist. By utilizing Evac’s vacuum sewage systems, it was possible for Zedwell to proceed according to their plan.

Each room consists of the Evac Optima 5 vacuum toilet and an Evac interface unit. The sewage from the bathrooms is delivered back to the vacuum collection unit via small bore piping located within the ceiling voids. Once back at the Evac collection unit, the waste is pumped to the communal sewer.

The low flush vacuum toilet will save the hotel over 2.5 million litres of water per year which will help them achieve the target of The London Plan to reduce water consumption to just 105 litres per person per day. Repairing existing buildings also follows the principles of the circular economy and helps to decrease climate emissions. The European Union has estimated that retrofitting buildings, instead of building new ones, could save 103 million tonnes of GHG emissions between 2022-2050 in the EU region.
