Corrosion protection

Cathelco® ICCP Reference Electrodes

  • Zinc or Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) sensing elements
  • Fully diver-changeable design
  • Watertight rubber holder with integrated seals

Cathelco® reference electrodes provide highly reliable, long-term performance for monitoring hull potential in Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems.

  • Ensures ICCP systems deliver effective corrosion protection.
  • Diver-changeable design enables maintenance at sea, keeping systems operational and avoiding the massive costs and disruption of unplanned drydockings.

  • Electrode Diameter: 68mm
  • Electrode Weight: 0.6kg (9kg including cofferdam)
  • Holder: Rubber housing with integrated seals
  • Material Options: Zinc or Silver/Silver Chloride

To ensure the hull remains within the ideal protection range reference electrodes measure the potential of the steel/seawater interface against a known reliable reference, this can be in the form of a Zinc or Silver/ Silver Chloride reference electrode. This measured value is then compared to a preset set point within the control panel to determine if ideal protection is being achieved and how much current is needed to protect the structure.
