Focus on environmental performance

The Research and Expedition Vessel, REV Ocean is a 182,9-meter ship, owned by Rosellinis Four-10 and designed by Espen Øino in collaboration with VARD Design. The highly specialized vessel will be available for scientists and explorers worldwide to support the research on the worlds oceans and the life below water. The vessel will be one of the most advanced research expedition vessels in the world and having the latest technology installed onboard, equipped with modern laboratories and tools for monitoring and surveying the various marine areas. The vessel will also have a high standard for accommodation making it suitable for charter to private individuals, companies and institutions. The total accommodation capacity is for 90 persons, including a maximum of 36 guests on board.

Environmental performance has been in focus throughout the concept- and development phase. The vessel is designed to operate in the most challenging and vulnerable environments, from arctic to tropical areas. The ship may be the world’s most environmentally-friendly nautical vessel when launched in 2024.

The REV project goes well beyond the minimum required by rules and regulations and demonstrates a sincere commitment to a sustainable marine environment.

Solution

Evac will supply REV Ocean with its Evac total Concept Solution, consisting of vacuum collection systems for sanitary waste, dry- and food waste collection and treatment systems, and wastewater treatment systems, including a membrane bioreactor with nutrient removal. These sustainable solutions will ensure the vessel will not leave even a trace of an environmental footprint.
